The Classical Form Assembly Tool
Assemble pre-equated parallel forms based on sound psychometrics, using classical test theory. For example, build 3 forms each with the same difficulty, reliability, and content distribution, overlapping by 40% of items.
The Classical Form Assembly Tool allows you to build up to three forms with parallel:
- Content distribution
- Projected score mean
- Projected score SD
- Projected reliability
- Cutscore (mean Angoff)
Best of all, this is available for free: simply fill out the form on the right and you can download the spreadsheet.
If you deliver multiple forms of an exam, it is important to make sure that scores are comparable. This can be done with post-equating, but if all items have existing statistics (they have been piloted or used in the past), you can “pre-equate” by building parallel forms. Doing this uniquely and dynamically for each examinees is also possible with algorithms; this is called linear on the fly testing.
